Saint-Tropez

Situated in the French department of Var in the region of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, Saint-Tropez has been an internationally renowned seaside resort since the 1950s thanks to its popularity with New Wave artists and the Yéyé movement of the Sixties. Saint Torpes of Pisa, who was decapitated on 29 April 68 AD, is a Christian martyr and a patron saint of sailors. A “tropézienne” can be a female resident of the city, a sea-resistant type of sandal that was first worn by fishermen on the Mediterranean coast or a cream-filled brioche tart created by Alexandre Micka in 1950 and baptised the “tropézienne” by Brigitte Bardot 5 years later. Do you do you do you Saint-Tropez? Le Gendarme de Saint-Tropez came out on 9 September 1964 and was seen by more than 7.8 million cinema-goers.

The Line depicted the skyline of Saint-Tropez as seen from the Bay of Saint-Tropez, facing away from Sainte-Maxime.
