Que je t'aime

In 1969 Johnny Hallyday was about to release a new album and preparing for an incredible gig at the Palais des Sports. But he still didn’t have the main song for the event, so he called upon Gilles Thibaut, who had already written Ma gueule [My Face] for him, and asked Jean Renard to compose the music. The lyrics, both virile and sensual, made quite an impact at the Palais des Sports and when the album, finally named Que je t’aime [How I love you], came out in November it sold 1.1 million copies. It topped the French charts for 11 consecutive weeks.
